Is it bad to use deodorant on skin other than armpits?

I'm telling my brother that its probably not a good idea to use the deodorant on his chest and back, but he insists to do so anyways. I'm not entirely sure if it does anything bad but, I'd like to know! (10 quick points for best answer)
