How can I get people to like me?

Im a 16 year old boy from England, 6ft 3 and medium weight and have got normal features and like all different kinds of things but i am mainly one of those skater gamer kids who listens to everything. So basically I have always been that kind of kid who keeps himself to himself and I am kind of a nerd (not the sunlight avoider ones) but i have been told that. So when I go out to places and try to meet people I just cannot bring myself to do it, i get this feeling inside me that tells me no matter what i say it will end up just making me look stupid, now this gets even worse because when I try to talk to girls it gets ten times worse and it isn't exactly the best feeling in the world. So if anyone can help it would be appreciated. (Oh yeah i also shower twice a day and wear cologne and deodorant so im not some kind of skanky kid) (And also if your a England hater dont bother telling me because i really couldnt care less and i put up a good argument)
